In their own words...

"Serving as A Young Apostle this summer was truly a deepening experience and one week that I will NEVER forget. I still keep in contact with some of my brothers from that week."

"The Young Apostles were good to have. When I looked over at them, all of them were setting good examples of their faith by praying devoutly and praising Jesus Christ."

[Share the Glory]

Share the Glory
After 6 of the 7 homes of my family that lives in Erath were destroyed, my family became really confused. The whole family basically is having to start over. Whether it is a house that’s fixable or not, we must all begin new lives. Having divorced parents, I felt even more hurt because not only one but both of their homes were affected. I began to think and actually asked my mom, “Why would God allow mother nature to do something like this to us?” My faith in God not once began to wear off, I just began to wonder. Another thing on top of this was that not only was my family not all together but I also had an aunt who stayed and ended up having to be rescued. The worst part was that we could not get in touch with her. Another family member lost most things in her house due to Katrina. The things that she was able to save, she brought here and then lost it all here due to Rita. Not being able to live in your house is one thing, but not being able to get an education in your own school takes it up another level. Before the hurricanes, one of my grandmothers, the one I was closest to, was very sick and being put in and out of the hospital and we knew she was dying. A few weeks after Hurricane Rita, on Homecoming Day, my grandmother passed away. This broke my heart into even smaller pieces and I really began to ask God, “Why?” I had to try really hard and remember the good moments that I had recently had with her. I believe that Steubenville will really help me to get things off of my chest and have God take it into his hands and help me to heal. One thing that has always helped me and I must continue to remind myself is, “it’s OK to cry” and it really is. Also, don’t be afraid to those close to you and don’t be afraid to talk about what you are feeling. I will guarantee that someone is willing to listen.
